SUMMARY OF JOB
Performs the following tasks and others as assigned by supervisor:
Under general supervision, performs skilled and specialized work for the Rescue Boat Division of the Port Authority Department. Work involves being first responders to all emergencies along the Mississippi River that encumbers Plaquemines Parish such as firefighting, chemical and hazardous spills, hurricane evacuation, search and rescue missions, etc.; responding to emergencies in other parishes along the river; providing Homeland Security by monitoring docks, anchorages, oil refineries, and other types of facilities along the river; and making daily harbor inspection to log vessel in anchors and docks. Reports to the Rescue Boat Captain.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREDFOR ADMISSION TO EXAMINATION
Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by one (1) year of experience in marine engine work; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, at or above the level, which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
Satisfactory physical condition, including back, vision and hearing
Mechanical background preferred; diesel experience preferred
Must be honest and exhibit good moral/ethical behavior
Must have a current Louisiana Drivers License with satisfactory record
Must have a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
MUST submit to and pass a criminal history background check through Louisiana State Police, Criminal Identification Bureau which may confirm or deny eligibility with Plaquemines Port Harbor & Terminal District
MUST consent to and pass the requirements of DOT Rule 49 CFR Part 40:25 verification for employment performing safety-sensitive duties

This examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. Applicant must submit accurate, detailed application forms providing all requested information, including descriptions of work experience, names, and addresses of previous employers and dates employed. Qualified applicants will be notified of the time, date place of any assembled test(s) which may be given.
